I was staying in Garnet Hill Lodge that was about 15- 20 minutes away from Gore Mountain.

First off, you have to be an hour north of there to see the best of the adirondaks..... those are just little foot hills. Instead of gore, try whiteface, the bigger of the sister mountains. although, I must say, that is beautiful.
