looks pretty straight forward photoshop, its just the mind that matters. Ghostdragon isnt like a fucken insane artist, but hes got a fucking awsome mind, like I know so many people who could 'do that' but could NEVER EVER think and create that from scratch having no knowledge of what they want to do. Ghost, where do you get your inspiration...?
I think one of the reasons why I like this image so much is because it really is a benchmark for a whole new style for me (seen in all my recent images). In the past I've always tried to keep things clean, precise, and dramatic. You could see it in my photography and my graphics Now I've just tried to be more creative and see where it takes me. Not limiting myself. As far as inspiration.. My real inspiration comes from music - all music. Diverisfy yourself in all different kinds of music and it'll give you so many fresh new ideas. Also, I'm sure you've heard that a picture is worth a thousand words? Look at professional pictures. (sxc.hu , indexstock.com). Each image already tells a story and it'll give you hundreds of ideas. Pick one, work with it. But don't get stuck on that one idea. Allow yourself to expand, try something random. It's crazy.. Because you'll start with one idea in your mind and when you finish you will have something that has absolutely nothing to do with your first idea. If you're not inspired, then don't be hard on yourself. Open up your graphics program with absolutely nothing in mind. Just randomly paint, randomly do effects, or pick some random picture and play with it.. You'll find countless concepts start to come into your head. Go with it. And skier_Dan is right.. I hardly have any technical artistic skills at all. Funny enough, give me a paintbrush/pencil and I won't be able to draw anything. I can't draw. But through the tools the computer gives me I can create this stuff. So find out what your tools are, and learn how to use them, and don't limit yourself. Inspiration can be found in all things. Music and photography has alot of power in it. I've found that I don't really get that inspired from other people's graphics. The only other graphic design that I look at are what you guys post on ns. That way I let myself just be creative and not confine myself to what other people's styles are.
Wow! Reallllly good advice. I know exactly what you mean about having an idea in your mind when you start, and ending up with something totally different and bizarre. It's fun that way!
I like the way your 'scratches' in the middle of the image go up through the trees and continue off into the lightning. I don't know if you intended this or not, but it's really sick!
