This is a wacky instrument, the first ever electric, it basically makes wierd sounds when you move your hand near this antenna thing. Really cool, and its also used in a lot of renditions of the national anthem

Theremins are so cool! They use them a lot in old sci-fi soundtracks...traditionally that would be a photoelectric cell and not an antenna.
