well like you said ^^^^^^ but anyways your picture is already that grungy splashy how ever you want to call it your picture is that...... BUT i would stay away from doing the SAME thing to your text.. then it just looks messy and well shity,, its all jumbled theres to much going on.. just leave the text plain or a simple texture or effect then you'll have it......
i think iam going to agree with ZRO... u def have suttin going on get rid of the lens flair in the left and the jumbled text, try a grung brush is PS or some splatter brushes.. its a great start tho
