pinnochio

One thing you should try is leaving the pinocchio unlit, and putting a lot of lighting on the background. Also, leave some distance between the doll and the background. So when you meter off pinocchio everything behind him will be very overexposed and will come out purely white wheras pinocchio will be normal.

Also, if you're using digital, try to adjust your white balance to get the orange-tint to go away, or if you're using film, use a correction filter for the fluorescent light to get rid of the cast.

Other than that it's pretty good, I'm diggin the shadow by the doll but it'd be cooler if you positioned it to the left so you could see the whole shadow.

thanks steve. your product shots inspired me to take these. i used poster board and a desk lamp. i think the lamp had an orange tint to it.

It's not the lamp tho, it's the color balance of the camera(if digi)/film. You can change it in photoshop though, use the curves adjustment and in the bottom right corner there are 3 eye droppers, choose the middle one (gray) and click on the orange in there, this will correct the image by making the orange be gray, thus changing the color balance.

killy, this is the art section, i'm just giving the guy some pointers, fuck off.
