detune your whole tip and tail, and a good 2 inches back from that a lot. makes catching an edge when buttering and spinning less likely. there's also 4frnts detuning video for more tips
Dr.DRE - That's a great question, and one of the reasons I like using the sanding sponge. You can take a little off the edge at a time and keep taking runs until it feels right. If you have someone else detune your edge and they make your edges too dull; you're hosed.
DR.DRE beore you detune the shit out of your skis and wind up with no edge, check your technique.

you may be catching your edge taking off switch because your initiating the spin before you pop. if so, just concentrate on the correct order as you approach the jump: wind up, pop, set and initiate spin, land.
