ive been to the top of that gondola in the background, i saw the top where the cat is and it was just solid ice, -50 degrees with wind chill and i didnt wanna ride some slow ass triple or whatever it was to ski it
yeah, unfortunately whoever decided to put ski trails on NY's 4th tallest mountain didn't have the knowledge to check jet streams back then. It stands all alone 20 miles from the rest of NY's high peaks and facing east gets pummeled with cold air and wind that blows the snow away.
I would have built on the western slope facing the lake. oh well, us locals can handle it, we live in -50 weather all winter.
