^ Levels adjustments are what digital photographers use on every one of their photos, along with Curves, Shadow/Highlight, Hue/Saturation, USM, color dodge, color burn and others. Some digital photographers don't use it, others use it extensively. Photos coming straight out of a digital camera are usually bland, so photographers spice it up a bit with some adjustments, it's the same thing people have been doing in the darkroom for decades.
