hey i snowboard and ski and i really think of them as two completely different entities that just happen to perform in the same locations, much like skateboarding and biking and rollerblading. i ski amazingly differently than i snowboard and i don't think one can say that 'us snowboarders started the newschool' because you personally didn't invent snowboarding or jumping or jibbing. but if you want to take it there skiers were jumping on skis almost a hundred years ago and i believe that snowboarding as we see it today was only brought about in the early eighties. so one could say that snowboarding just expounded upon ideas that were started by skiers. in either case i think there should be a mutual respect between the two sports. word.
