your head can be above and still die, if the snow keeps your chest from expanding. Also just because his head was up this time does not mean it allways will be.

i understand what youre saying. you cant really see in the picture but he pretty much just laying on top of deep snow so he couldnt get out of it.

same thing happend to me in whistler bc and i would have totaly died without my friend and even then the mountain safety had to come to get me out of the snow
