i'd suggest not shooting in 16:9 with that camera, if you want black bars you can just edit them in with premiere or final cut and it's pretty much pointless in the first place.
no, the vertical black bars are there because when you film 16:9 you film widescreen, so the computer has to squish the footy into 4:3. You can change this, and make the computer leave it in 16:9, but how you do it might depend on the program you use
